Shannon, after having left us yesterday, arrived via car with his wife and a spare fuel canister for our stove. He knew where to find us; just locate the local fire department. It rained extremely hard for a bit, then slackened. Our tents have taken a beating this trip. Shannon left to meet up with some friends. For him, the trip is over; he’s home. We will be soon enough.
The bike shop in Wytheville couldn’t help us with a minor gearing issue with Steve’s bike, nor with a fuel canister we needed for Steve’s stove, but they did recommend a great place to eat and we forgave them. We met Shannon’s sister, who lived nearby, and ate good food and drank several kinds of German beer.
